Who likes running? Seriously?....

Didn't post over the weekend (as I was away eating rich foods and drinking alcohol!)

After Thursday football, I didn't fancy much exercise on a Friday! However I dragged my sorry self out for 11 miles on the bike so I felt a bit better about the haggis roll, scone, ripple and burrito I ate during the day!

Needs must and all that!

Then I decided to roll out the running last night! Ouch!!

I'm still sore today, 2.25 miles in 24 minutes, I was tired, but ok, I reckoned I could have done another mile or so before passing out, hey that's what the marathon runners do is it not?

For another 2 mile run tonight and then the weekly 15 mile commute on my bike tomorrow.

Will see how this progresses......

Oh and I lost another pound! Down to 15 stone 10 now! Still have a fair bit to lose though!!!

Cycle to work (through a scheme)

Today I decided it would be an intelligent idea to cycle to work. Livingston to Edinburgh..... Google maps said 15 miles.... it lied!

17 miles (and change) a sweaty mess appeared in the office in West End of Edinburgh, feeling refreshed, alert, full of desire, and none of the above. Tired, lethargic, and ready for a nap was more what it was like.

Still, I was lapping the people on the train. It took nearly an hour and a half, I reckon by my calculations I could get 30 Min's off that time easily, given a couple of weeks at it. But it burned 1000 calories!! YES, 1000! That's like an extra meal! I'm looking forward to eating said extra meal.

Plans are once or twice a week, cycle both ways. that's a minimum of 60+ miles a week. Compared to the no exercise in 6 weeks this is a massive step forward.

Now, where are my football boots for sevens this week?.....

So what do you write in blogs?

Motivational encouragement for yourself?
Wallowing (pun partly intended) in my own self pity at my fitness?

Sharing your story so others can relate to your battle on a daily/ weekly/ whenever you can be bothered updating the blog basis?

Aye, that seems about right!

Well we are at the start of the third week of the diet, 12 pounds lost. But it's horrendous. I miss my pizzas/ burgers and carbs at breakfast lunch and dinner. I'm eating food that my food eats, its green,  and not deep fried. That's the issue, where's my can of full fat "healthy" irn bru to keep my sugar levels up?

Diets suck, so does exercise but needs must.

I'm making a lifestyle change. Shift the weight, eat better, and have a healthier lifestyle. Mini me, at 17 months today, would appreciate it. I want to be able to run rings around him at football well into my fifties!

Who knows I might even try a half marathon.
